History

History of the Asian American Alliance

The Asian American Alliance was founded in 1992 as an interest group. The interest group primarily focused on the issues of Asian American students and provided social and educational programs for the less than five Asian American students enrolled in Capital University.

Through heightened interest and efforts of the students, the Asian American Interest Group became a formally recognized organization of the university in the spring of 1996. The name Asian American Alliance was selected to reflect the connection among the various ethnic groups represented in the Asian American student population at Capital University.

Some of the organization's goals are to provide awareness/education programs about the Asian cultures and to advocate on behalf of Asian American students on issues affecting their status at Capital University.

Purpose of the Asian American Alliance

The purpose of the Asian American Alliance is to serve as a support network through social and educational programs for Asian American students enrolled in Capital University. The group will also provide education and awareness about Asian American cultures to the university community.
